The best online stock trading strategy uses discount brokers because they are cheaper.  Stock traders trade frequently which means more fees.  As long as those fees are low, traders can still make a profit.

This same benefit is passed to ordinary investors that practice a buy and hold strategy.  Discount brokers are much cheaper than the traditional full service brokerage firms.  If you plan to do your own research or buy mutual funds, the extra money it costs to use a full service broker is a waste.  Save the extra money and invest it instead.

Easier

Online brokerage accounts are much easier to use.  You can log in whenever you want to look at your portfolio, and you can place trades easily.  Also, research is easier with online tools and information.  You don’t need to send for information packets if you can get all the information you need online.

You can still make Money

As with any investing, you keep making money.  The point of buying stock is to earn a profit.  When you buy stock online, you pay less which means more money to invest, it’s easier and faster which means more time to yourself, and you still earn the same return on your money.
